Margaret Palmer was trained at Hornsey School of Art, Salisbury School of Art and Bournemouth College of Art. She specialises in portraits in oil and pastel. Her work is in public and private collections worldwide , her portrait of Dame Alicia Markova hangs in the foyer of Sadlers Wells Theatre and of Mother Teresa of India in India House. Other sitters include Susan Hampshire, Lord Nugent of Guildford and Sandy Gall. Margaret has exhibited at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Pastel Society and held many one-man shows..
